What is additive manufacturing?
“Additive manufacturing is the process of creating an object by building it one layer at a time. It is the opposite of subtractive manufacturing, in which an object is created by cutting away at a solid block of material until the final product is complete.
Technically, additive manufacturing can refer to any process where a product is created by building something up, such as molding, but it typically refers to 3-D printing.”*
Here at Apex Design Services L.L.C. we begin the process of developing your design by using the reference data you provide. Next, we analyze your data and determine if is well suited for additive manufacture. Next, we will modify it as needed to “build” your part or assembly as conceptualized.
In certain cases, the client may have the remains of a broken part that will require careful measurements or a cloud scan so that the object can be accurately reproduced.
Additive manufacturing allows for the creation of functional, rapid prototypes, and even molds to form other parts from epoxies and resins.
